Telepresence Performance2016
A telepresence performance with music and video, staged simultaneously in Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Irvine.
The performance featured Geri Allen (piano) and George Lewis (trombone) performing from Pittsburgh, Nicole Mitchell (flute) and Michael Dessen (trombone) performing from Irvine, and Francis Wong (saxophone) performing from San Francisco. There were also two “virtual performers” on Disklavier, one in Irvine and one in Pittsburgh, driven by Lewis’ Voyager software system. John Crawford directed a live video mix sourced from the three locations that was projected simultaneously in all three sites.
Simultaneously performed at University of Pittsburgh, SFJAZZ Center and UC Irvine.
